PROF. UALDEI OTT'S INSANE SUGGESTION. (Received C, 11.0 a.m.) London. Fell. 5. Air. Newton Moore, Agent-Gen-eral for West Australia, at the Birmingham Jewellers’ dinner, referring to Professor Caldecott s proposal to cede the Australian Northern territory to Germany, said if England were inclined to listen to the recommendation she was not in a position to cede the territory of a self-governing Dominion. The Imperial conf: rences had shown a new situation arising out of the Dominions taking thin- putt in Imperial questions, and sharing defence. It was impossible to conceive how Professor Caldecott’s extraordinary pioposition could ba adopted.
