L'o-night at the King’s Theatre a complete change will be screened, and the King’s Orchestra will play a change of music There are 13 j>i< titres, and .each is really good. An instructive and yet amusing film is “ The Strength of Insects.” The flea is seen to hold what appears to be. in proportion, very heavy xveighttf; but when, at the conclusion, the audience sees the insect’s foot, little xvender is expressed at the feats performed. It is a veritable mass of claws and spikes. " A Trip on Lake Scutari ” will he much appreeidted. “ On Farther Creek ” is a good Wild AVest story. “English Lakes” conveys a good impression of the Old Country sceneryi The star film of the evening is “ Younj Lochinvar,” taken from Sir Walter gteott’s well-known work. Other films of interest are "An Idle Boast,” " Captain Barnacle’s Baby (dramas), “ The Dare Devil,” " The Last Chance,” " Smiler tries Ju-jitsu,” Robin buys a Donkey ” (comics), and "Making Cheddar Cheese” (industrial). OIAMPIA RINK. HASTINGS. Yesterday, despite the many counter attractions, the different sessions at the » rink were well attended. All are now practising bard lor the Poster Carnival to take place in about six tuvks’ time. On Wednesday next the obstacle race will take place, for which several entries have been received. This event is sure to prove a big attraction. WIRTH BROS.’ CIRCUS. Me.-,-is. Wirth Bro:,, should hate every reason to feel satisfied with the result of the visit of their cir.cus and menagerie to Hastings last evening. Their hug-' t"iit, w hi< h was pitched in a paddock at the rear of the old Woodl’orde House School, xvas densi'ly packed, and every available inch of space to within a few feet of the performers’ arena xvas taken up. The large attendance was quite justified by the programme .submitted. It was full of merit ; two of the items were in a class by themselves and worth going a long xx ay to see. The aerial feat of the Flying Jordans was th" star item of the evening, and it was certainly the finest of its kind yet seen ni Hastings. The grace and ease with which the performers went through their series of flights by means of the ti apeze. changed places and linked hand to hand, swung in mid-ait\ was little short of marvellous, and won for them round after round of applause. Another .splendid item was an exhibition of tigbt-wire feats by the Adelia Sisters •and George. The turn was a sensation in itself, and it simply thrilled the audience, although in its its accomplishment the trio appeared to be quite at home. Ou the aerial horizontal bars Atoris and Le Van displayed wonderful agility, anil the tiapeze mt by Signorita Dolinda was a special feature of the evening. An acrobatic act on horseback by the Wonderful Bastiens —throwing somersaults and head to head balancing whilst the horse was galloping round the ring, and the acrobatic exhibition by the Eight Bastiens were other firstclass items and evoked well-merited applause. A troupe of lull-grown pure white Polar bears, acting with thre; 1 grizzly bear- and two hoarhounds, found favour with the spectators, the frolics of the “ 'l'l’ildy Bears ” being particularly amusing. Included in the entertainment was the jockey act by. Mr. J. \V. Cooke, the "seven horse picture act. " Earl Dudley (the riding pony ”). a motor-car comedy, and the indispensable clowns. The inenngerie was the centre <sf gnait attraction in the early portion of the evening. Mdssrs. Wirth Bros, show at Napier this evening.
