PREMIER’S CONFERENCE.
OPENED AT MELBOURNE. Melbourne, Jan. 18. The Premier’s Conference opened. Mr. Murray was voted to the chair. Sir John Fuller, Governor of Victoria ,welcomed the delegates. (Received 18, 9.35 a.m.) Sir John Fuller, when opening' the Premier’s conference, said the constitution would be unworkable without the friendly co-operation between the States and the Commonwealth Government. Mr. McGowan foreshadowed that the conference would be marked with a spirit of give and take, and decided to ask Air. Fisher to explain the Common wealth’s banking and the. uniform railway gauge proposals.
