MONUMENT AT WAITARA. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Waitara. Jan. i 7. A meeting in Waitara last evening decided to take steps to raise subscription for the purpose of erecting a monument in the soldiers cemetery on which it is proposed there shall be inscribed the names of the members of the regular forces and the volunteers killed in the engagements around Waitara district in the war of JB6O-I. It has long been a reproach that the remains of brave ten lie unmarked and it is hoped now the monument has been started that the cemetery will hereafter Improperly cared for.
