THE VICTORIOUS TRIUMPH.

WONDERFUL RECORD OF SUCCESSES ON TRIUMPH MOTOR CYCLES. WELLINGTON TO NAPIER IN 6 HOURS 38 MINUTES. At the H.B. Motor Cycle Club s sports, held on the Hastings Racecourse on Boxing Day, the Triumphs again practically swept the board. Out of an entrv of 12 machines, representing five different makes, the Triumphs secured 10 firsts. 7 seconds, and 4 thirds out of a possible eleven events. This performance is all the more remarkable when it is considered that the Triumphs had t<> concede large handicaps to machines of equal power, and six of the ten first machines were ridden by amateur riders. On Saturday, Dec. 30th, Mr. J. LBrathwaite left for Wellington on his Triumph motor cycle to make an attempt on tne existing figures of ■ the Wellington to Napier record—viz., 8 hours 35 minutes, established by Mr. H. L. Schaeffer on New Year’s Day, 1909. also on a Triumph. In spite of several attempts on other makes of machines, this record has stood to .the credit of the Triumph for three years. Mr. Brathwaite left the Wellington Post Office at 4.20 a.m. on New Year’s Day, and arrived at the Napier Post Office at 10.57 a.m., his time being 6 hours 38 minutes, lowering the previous record by nearly two hours. The Triumph ran perfectly from start to finish, the only’ two stops being to take in petrol and oil. It is only peifcet machines, made from the finest material procurable, that can ayc’-nge 33} miles an hour over 230 miles oi New Zealand loads.

Those who were at the Napier Post Office at the finish could not help but remark on the perfect condition of the machine at the finish. The Triumph is not only made for speed.
