MANIAPOTO, who this season makes his debut at the stud, is the son of Soult, and was not raced until he was a 4-year-old, when, in addition to numerous other wins, he yound up the season by winning the Hawke’s Bay Cup, carrying Sst 21b Maniapoto was then sent across to Australia, and won the Metropolitan Handicap, carrying Sst in tho record time of 2min 32) sec. So brilliant was this performance that he was never afterwards given a chance by the handicappers. His last outing was in the City Handicap at the A.J.C. Spring Meeting, in which, with P-,t 51b, he ran second to Proceed, 7st 91b. Last season, in New Zealand, Maniapoto won the St. Andrew’s Handicap at the Feilding J.C. Spring Meeting, and the following month ran second, with Ost 71b, 1) mile in 2min 7 l-ssec in the President’s Handicap at the Manawatu R.C. Summer Meeting to The I,ark, Bst 71b. Maniapoto has a strong recommendation as a sire from the fact that he combines the double strain of Fisherman blood and the best of ad crosses, that of St. Simon and Musket.
