Wales in tinw was 18,828 tons, and in Queensland 207,264 tons. The importations for 1910 were 680,163ewt. valued at £406,769, and fci’ the first six months of 1911 323,851 cwt. valued at £199,229. The bulk of the importations were from Java .though n considerable portion
came from Fiji. The production of jam in 1910 was 80.869.1141 b, but the particulars of the suffir used in the manufacture were not available. Assuming that lib of sugar is used for each pound of fruit, the quantity cf sugar would be about half. The sugar used in brewing in the same year totalled 298.029ewt. The exports of jam were 1,814,0021 b, valued at £28,372. Drawback was granted to the 'extent of £53. The estimated consumption of sugar in Australia was 253,191 tons. Factories and refineries paid in 1910 £2962 in license fees, and in 19H, though the total year is incomplete, £2210.
