MAILS ON FIRE.
ENGLISH LETTERS SAFE. Rome. Dee. 27. Fire was discoveredamong the mails of the P. and O. Company’s steamer ‘ Isis.’’ when two hours from Brindisi. Tlii? outbreak was due to a short circuit. The ship returned to Brindisi. The brigade were all night extinguishing the flames. The Isit has re-sailed. T’ e English portion of the mail -- not affected.
