WHAT THE E.M.F. CAR CAN DO.
On Wednesday, December (itb last. Mr. R. Ltrubriek’s 3()-h.p. E.M.F. car left the Carlton Club Hotel. Hastings, at 5.29 a.m.. en rout*’ for Wairoa. with four passengers, including 3lr. Eustace Lane, who had arrang'd to deliver a t'olitieal addre-s in Wairoa on the •veiling before the elections, and he was very desirous of hejng back in Hastings on the morning of polling day. Well, to go on with the story, the E.M.F. arrived in Wairoa at 1.30 p.m.. and left for home again at 10 p.m.. and arrived back in Hastiilgs at 8.15 a.m. Snt-h good time was made through the night that the car arrived three hours too early at th:: Washout, and trmsequently this time was lost in waiting till the horses arrived. While th.' memorable gale of Wednesday was raging, levelling telegraph poles and de-iooling sheds, etc., the poweifid E.M.F. car was ploughing het way over mountain tracks and through .-ivers with as much ease as if she -vere travelling on good macadam, and luring th:- whole journey not the slightest adjustment "as mve--ary to any part <>! the car. and s'n> was driien by 1 mere lad of l'i.
