The Hon. R. Alc-Kcnzie passed through Hasting.; on the mail train this morning. Air. and Airs. John Roberts, of Dunedin arrived in Napier on Sa fur dav, and are staving at the Masonic Hotel.
Captain Morrison, of the Defence Department, Napier, was removed to the Hospital on Saturday, suffering fi cm a slight illness.
Airs. F. Craddock, who has been spending a holiday in Napier, returned to her home in Christchurch bv the Alonowai to-day.
Quartern!asl er-Sergean t ATcNair. of the Defence Office, Napier, returned from the Wairarapa district by the express train on Saturday evening.
AVe regret to report the death of Miss Rena Robertson at the age of J 9. Deceased, who was a niece of Air. and Mrs. W. H. Cortes. Napier. had been ailing for some time, but her death came more suddenly t han was' expected. The many friends of Air. Alexander O’Down will deeply regret to hear of the loss of his wife, who died from quinsy yesterday at her residence. Taradale, after only a few hours 'illness. The deceased lady, a sister of Air. F. Gebbie and Air. AV. Gebbie. was widely known and highly respected throughout the district.
Sir William and Lady. Russell are expected to return to Hastings at the end of this week. A number of friends have in hand the formation cf a welcome home. A meeting is to be held in St. Matthew's Hall at 3 p.m. on Wednesday to discuss the matter. It is to be hoped tlia.t. something mav be done to fit in with hip anniversary of Sir M illiam’s arrival in Hawke’s Bay.
