EXHIBITION OF WORK
The cxliiiiition oi work done by the pupils in the various departments of the Napier Technical College attracted a large audience yesterday afternoon and evening. All the rooms of the college are open for inspection. A very pleasing display was given in the cookery room. Seven tables irtre in charge of five giri-. the decorations and exhibits being entirely the work of these pupils. , In the chemical and physical laboratory there was a very well arranged show of electrical and other apparatus. The engineering workshop contained a very interesting exhibition. This workshop was fitted up entirely by the boys themselves. The dressmaking and art rooms attracted much attention.
The official opening ceremony commenced at 3 o clock in tl.e cookery room. Air. (?. H. Edwards, chairman of the Board of Directors, said that this was the second time an exhibition of this sort had been given, and the visitors could see for themselves that the institution has progressed. Mr. J. V. Brown, the Mayor, expressed his pleasure at being present. There were now about “00 pupils who attended the college weekly, shovrsng that its advantages had been recognised. He said he was glad the Government lias so handsomely assisted the finances of the institution.
