The "Herald” takes' Mr. McGowan to task for his spineless reply to the deputation against boxing contests and adds that a boxing contest conducted to a knock-out *m gentlemanly lines is not a draw ; a gladiatorial spectacle is more likely to draw. (’out inning, it says: “We are not among those who try to force refined morality by legislation, but a limit is reached when Hie so-called sport bei-omes a foul ulcer of infection from which one able to pro'.ect themselves.
