Mr. W. H. Hartgili. of Dannevirke. is on a short visit to Napier.

Rev. Father de Lach returned to Otaki this morning. The death is announced at New Ym-k of Admiral Wilde, of heart disease.

Mr. and Mrs. C. Bennett and family returned to Hastings last evening from their visit to the Old Country.

Air. R. L. Jefferson, the recordbreaking motor car traveller, left Napier by boat for Auckland this afternoon. Miss Ruby Beehan, who has been acting-postmistress at Havelock North for the past six weeks, returned to Auckland this morning. Mr. Duke Hunter, a popular member of the staff of the Bank of Australia, arrives in Napier to-night from Taranaki on holiday leave. He i-; accompanied by Airs. Hunter.

Airs. J. J. Connor, who is leaving Takapu to reside on her property near Hastings, was presented on Saturday 7 with a very handsome silver cake dish (suitably inscribed) by her lady friends at Takapu. He is in town making arrangements for their opening here. At a special meeting of the H.B. Hospital Board held yesterday morning Dr. Thomas Gilray, ALB.. Ch.B. (N. 8. F.R.G.S.. Edin., was appointed resident medical officer at the N' a picr Hospital. Dr. Gilray was fa:’ one year junior house surgeon at Dunedin Hospital ami for 21 years senior surgeon at Wellington Hospital. During the last two years he has attended hospitals in London. Edinburgh r.aii Glasgow. Dr.’ Gilray is the liolder of exceptionally good testimonials from seme of the leading medical men of New Zealand.
