IN A VIOLENT TORRENT (Received 24. 1.30 p.m.) Peris Nov ‘'3 A a train was crossing the Thcust river the whole of it excepting three carriages was engulfed in the violent torrent. Ten passengers refuging on the top cf a carriage made desperate efforts far satety. Rescue work is continuing. (Received 24, £.20 p.m.) The fioed weakened tiie buttresses of the railway Lrige amt caused its collapse. The Saumur train fell into the river. It is reported from sixty to eighty persons were drowned.' including tiie driver and fireman.
