RE MR. CLAPHAM’S MEETING.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir.—Although Mr. Clapham stated that he was very anxious for the public to know his views on all political matters, and promised to answer all questions submitted to him. there was one question last night to which he would not reply. It was as follows:—“If elected, how would you vote in a Caucus of the Labour Party on a No-confidence Motion —would you vote for the present Government or the present Opposition The answer given was merely a re-iteration of his statement that his attitude in Parliament would be governed by the decision of the Labour Party in Caucus. Will Mr. Clapha.n inform the electors — per medium of your valuable paper —how he would give his vote in a Caucus of the Labour Party (not in Parliament), where he must have a voice, even if he thereby deprives himself of liis right to a voice in Parliament.--I am. etc., QUESTIONER. Hastings, Nov. 24, 1911.
