A DANGER TO SHIPPING

The steamer India reported striking n floating object in the dark is the vicinity of Recherche Island and receiving a sever' shock. Subsev.ienrly the steamer Monarch reported sighting the hull of a waterlogged vessel in the direct line of shipping bet.ve?n West .ami South .Australia. Its identity is not ascertained.
THE MACLEAY ENQUIRY.
Sydney, Nov. 9.
An enquiry lias been opened into the wreck of the steamer ?*lacLeay. Evidence was found that the compass had been adjusted shortly liefore. the last voyage. The niglit was black and dark.
