ALLEGED JUDICIAL CORRUPTION.
A REPLY FROM SIR JOHN FINDLAY.
I PEK I-IiOSS ASSOCIATION.]
Auckland. Nov. 8. Sir John Findlay was asked at his meeting last night if he favoured payment of extra emoluments to the Supreme Court Judges. He said there was no doubt that the question was aimed at Sir Robt. Stout, and he was positively ashamed of the manner in which certain men in public life have charged Sir Robt. otcut with allowing his judgment to be .fleeted by receiving money from the qountrv. Judicial conniption is what the charge amounts to. For any man to charge the Chief Justice with that, said G'r J. Findlay, is base, ignoble, and contemptible. Sir Robt. Stout did no? seek the work referred to in tne question; it was offered to'him. He was asked to work 18 hours a day on special duty, for which he was well fitted. I know the man against whom this charge of judicial corrupucn was made, and I say- h<s heart beats fi.i his country and that his name will live long after those of Jjis critics anil maligners' are forgotten. — (Applause.)
