Our correspondent writes :- "Preparations for the big ex ent are now practically complete and already the purebred classes of stock are beginning to reach Palmerston in anticipation of the contest. It is to be hoped that better weather than has obtained at Carterton will be experienced. From present appearances line weather is expected though the last week or two has been very unsettled. The decision to open the halls and side shows in the evenings has attracted a large number of penI pathetic showmen, plenty of fun and amusement being guaranteed. The [secretary (Mr. M- T. Perry) ! having a strenuous time and is very [hard put to it to find aeeommodaItion for the prospective visitors who have neglected to look ahead in this (direction.
