I As previously stated this system linereases tire unit of commerce from 12001 b to five tons. This load being handled with greater ease and less lex<-rti()'i <>n the part of a man than would be required to drag a sack, of potatoes. The mechanism is so light, strong, effective and simple as to render the transmission of such loads from place to place a mere bagatelle. With regard to the railways throughout New Zealand, the system may be applied immediately the company is formed, for no alteration or addition whatever is required to be made to existing trucks of the U B class— a train of whir'll would be loaded or unloaded at the company’s bulk receiving and forwarding depots inside a few minutes without the necessity of shunting or uncoupling the locomotive engine as now required. As a typical illustration of the saving effected in time and labour in the transmission of bulk supplies— Take bricks. To pack anil unpack a vehicle carrying 1690 bricks —two men would be ordinarily engaged for three hour's, or if one man only does the work, six hours, with the horses and vehicle idle the whole of the time. With the new system the horses and vehicle would not be detained more than one minute in receiving this load and one quarter minute in discharging. In view of this enormous advantage (which as aforesaid applies to every class of goods) a powerful Carrying and Contracting Company is being formed throughout the whole of New Zealand—the vendors taking fully paid up shares only (no cash). Fraser, Queen street. Hastings —these firms being the representatives of the company for the Hawke's Bay province.
