(;OVERNMENT SU BSIDIES. The Public Works Department is displacing most remarkable and commendable promptitude in making grants available tor expenditmi this year. Authority for expenditure has already been received by the H.B. County Council on the following works:- Tuki Tuki rivet brigde NlooO (£l for £1). Southland drain £iV» (£1 for £IJ. Napier to ipukititiri road £650 (£1 for £2). Na- ' pier to Mowhanga £lOO (£1 for £D. Motio-Oniahn road £5O (£l for £2). ■Tuki Tuki deviation £250 (£1 for £1). Aorangi road extension £lOO (£l for £1). Richmond road £47. RuIkuinoana to Richmond road £l5O. These amounts total £2497 and if we add to this sum the unexpected balance of last vear s votes we have 1 a i total amount of Government money available for expenditure this year of approximately £4500. This is a gratifying instance of recognition given requirements of the district. ■Remember the time.'' said the County Clerk to our representative ‘this morning, "when we waited nine i ear- for a total of £250.
