Mr. G. P. Donnelly left Hustings this morning for Wellington, and returns on Wednesday. Mr. F. B. Gardiner. District Health Officer, who h is been to Wairoa, returned to Napier on Saturday. Tim marriage of Mr. W. Famelly. if Hastings, to Miss Rea. Kelly, of Hamilton, is to take place at Hamilton to-morrow. Mr. G. 1). Portus, well-known in theat.rietil circles, was married at St . J times’ Church, Sydney, last week to Mrs. Maxwell, widow of the late Mr. -Max. Maxwell, actor. Mr. Pratt, who takes the position of Mr. J. M. Williams, on tin* staff of the Napier "Telegraph" office, arrived in Napier on Saturday evening ami commenced his duties today. Writing to a friend in Hastings, Mr. W. Y. Dennett, who is at preseul visiting Sydney, states that lie is much benefit tod by t he t rip, and expects to return to Hastings about the 19th inst. Dr. Karl Kumm, F.R.G.S., an African explorer and missionary, intends visiting New .Zealand shortly. He is said to he a very interesting speaker, and Sydney audiences were delighted with his addresses. Dr. Kumm arrives in Christchurch on 31st inst., and stays here till November (>th. He will give addresses dealing with missionary work. Mr. R. Rawlinson, who left the employ of Blythes Limited, on Saturday, after three years' service with that firm, was met by his fellow workers and presented with a leather trunk and ten veiling rug. Mr. H. A. Burdekin, made the presentation. Mr. Rawlinson left, to-dav for Wanganui. wlieie he enters tlie service of Mcksrs. George and Kersley. A telegram from Dunedin states that Mr. William J. Waters, ex-lic-cnsce of Hie City Hotel, for many years connected with volunteer athletics at the port, died at the harbour side fr >m heart disease, aged 61, He leaves a widow and seven children. Deceased was president of the local Licensed Victuallers Association, which lias lost two cf its. chief executive officers within i lie present ycir. A very old and respected resident of Hastings in the person of Mr, William Clark, well-sinker, passed away at his residence in Willow Park road, yesterday morning. Deceased contracted a chill some days ago, and i.'omplieal ions setting in. the end came, as above stated, yesterday morning. Mr. Clark had reached the age of 80 years. He leaves a willow, a grown up family ami a number of grandchildren. The funeral will take place to-morrow.
