CHRISTCHURCH INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION.
PREPARATION FOR THE OPENING Christchurch, Oct. 11. The executive of the Industrial Exhibition has decided that the exhibition is to be opened at noon on the 26th instant. The speakers are to lie the president of the Exhibition Committee, the president of the Canterbury Trades and Labour Council, and official representative of the Government, who will declare the exhibition open. A luncheon is to be held afterwards, at which the speakers will be the presidents of the Trades Council, the Industrial Association, the Employers’ Association, Bishop Julius, Bishop Grimes, the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church, representatives of other religious de--nominations, and representatives of public men. For the various competitions in connection with the exhibition entries are being received in very large numbers. The Space Committee allotted what it considered at the time ample space for the display of articles entered for competition, but the very numerous entries received to date seem to indicate that the space will be wholly inadequate, and the Competitions Committee is somewhat concerned to find aocomnxxlation for the exhibits, not only in the fancy and needlework, but also in the, skilled trades classes.
