PROTECTION OF BIRDS.
A HINT TO FEATHERED LADIES. (Received 12, 8.55 a.m.) Sydney ,Oct. 12. Bird day, with the object of incalcurlating the protection of native birds, has been inaugurated. It was largely celebrated in the State schools. Mr. Carmichael, in an address dealing with tlie value of birds to the settlers, referred to the wanton mischief wrought by ladies wearing bird plumage for the sake of adornment. The remedy was to wear artificial plumage, if ladies must have this stvle of adornment.
