AN OLD TIME BELIEF FAILS.
EIGHTEEN GIRLS DROWNED. (Received 5. 8.5 a.m.) Vienna, Oct. 4. Eighteen girls were drowned in the river Aluta while bathing at midnight under the old-time belief that thev would thus get husbands before the end of the year. A strong current carried them away.
