Colonel Chaytor, officer comma tiding the Wellington district, arrived in Napier last evening to supervise the commencement of the posting of men to the various companies. He. will deliver a lecture this evening to the members of the Officers Club. Mr. A. Fenton, for some years past caretaker of the Napier Recreation Ground, formerly professional coach for the Hawke's Bay Cricket Assocmn, and a c>'icketer whose services nave been madn of great, value in club and interproviucial matches, leaves Napier this morning to enter upon his new duties as caretaker of a Wellington ground. Yesterday he was the recipient of three presentations. At the Working Men’s Club the members of the Semde and Huitf’d Cricket (flubs and several members of the Hawke’s Bay Cricket. Association met Mr. Fenton last evening and presented him with a letter from the association appreciative of his services, a set of carvers, table silver and cutlery, and a silver tea service for Mrs. Fenton. Later in the evening Mr. Fenton was the gm st of a number of personal friends at. the Royal Hotel, when he was presented with an eight-day clock, ami still later, he received a pocket, wallet from the Wednesday cricketers ;j.s a mark of gratitude and esteem. On carb, occasion speeches were made expressing regret, at Mr. Fillion’s d'piiture and paying tribute to the excellent work lie has done for cricket in Hawke’s Bay.
