PROI-OSED BITLDING AT HASTINGS.
At a me.'ting of the Building Coinmitten of tl.e Hastings Young Men’s Christian Association, held on the 7t’i instant, the architects. Messrs. Rusli and James, submitted the plans for the proposed building. The elevation shows a pleasing <(■•- sign in French Dottiest ie' (Jot hi'-, whii h stvle lends itself well for such a building. and in which the true construction is incorporated m th*? design. Tlie ;-onstruction throughout is of brick and conciet'. and the accommodation provided is as follows: — Locker and Pressing Room. etc. — A locker and dressing room, with shornbath, lavatories, and swimming poe'. f3oft x Lsi't) is attached.
Gymnasium. —The gymnasium occupies" the rear portion of the section, ir. very lol'tv. and contains an onlooker:;' galierv. The floor measures 56ft x -!< Ft. and when fully equipped will be onof the finest in the Poininicn. Th ■ looker room opens off the gymnasium. Also situated in a basement, is provl . a bicycle stand.
Ground Floor. —The main entrance ; through a very fine portico -nto spacious hall, from which open . th* senior members' reading and writim room, 2.5 ft 6in x 16ft, a lounge, sinai: -af‘*. and retreat ion room (25ft x 16ft - ) A billiard room. 30ft x 3011 (to taktwo tables), the gymnasium, senior am junior members’ lavatories, are. entere. from a corridor.
The secretary's office is large, and cai be used as a board room ; it is in ; commanding position, and is we lighted. First Floor.-- A stairway lands in ai. upper hall, from which open the junioi members’ recreation room (22ft x Lsft). their reading and writing room (15ft x I Ift).
A well-lighted social room, ;>oit x 5. ft. ava'iable for meetings generally, ': provided, and a dark room for photo-
graphy. Generally. The building is speciall; well lighted from all sides.
