A steamer to the order «>t the Patea Shipping Co.. Ltd., which Mr. W. H. Jtruwn is building, will be launched about the middi" of next month. The former are compound, to indicate 2** h.p.. and the boiler will have a working pressure of I3t)lb. The vessel will lie insulated ami fitted with a refrigerator, while therst will lie some 15*»t’t of piping in the holds, capable of dealing with 11<*> quarterof beef or 3-"?*) caria.-es of mutton, which quantity the vessel’s holds are arranged to carry. On deck she adl be fitted with two winches and the latest appliances for dealing with the large butter and i-lu***'** trade between Patea and Wellington. Th" vessel will have steam steering gear supplied and fitted by Messrs. J. J. Niven and Co., of Napier. She was designed by Mr. L.
