CROQUET.
OPENING OF THE BLUFF HILL CLUB.
In spite of the inclemency of the weather yesterday afternoon, there was a full attendance of members at the opening of the Bluff Hill Croquet Club.
On gathering in a group on one of the lawns Mr. H. AV. Brabant briefly addressed the gathering. He "aid that at the request of the President (Mrs. S. McLernon) he would make a few remarks. Besides the opening
of tlie lawns they had another objt < t in view, that was to tarewcil to Mrs. Hilton, who had been secretary and. treasurer of the club sim-e its inception. After eulogising Mr". Hilton’s services, Mr. Brabant presented her with a velvet rase containing a beautifully-designed gold pendant and neck-chain set with numeroti:' pearls and aq’tia-marines. Air. Bilton. on behalf of his wile, said he had great pleasure in thanking the members for their very beautiful gift, and Mr. Brabant for tne

During the afternoon a photographer took numerous photographs to form mementos of the occasion. Mr. Brabant declared’ the lawns open, and called upon the President (Mrs. McLei'ixnt) lo strike Hie first ball. Mrs. McLernon performed the talk faithfully.
