A sensation occurred at the grand naval review off Toulon. The battleship Brcnnus, in a mist, collided with a steamer, which had a large hole made in her bow. The passengers were thrown into a panic, but boats assisted ,and all were safely landed. The, Brennus continued her course and joined the fleet. Everything was done to make the review impressive. Ninety warships and crews ,numbering 30,000, were assembled. President Fallieres and Ministers, aboard the battleship Messena, passed down the lines amid much enthusiasm.

There were 200,000 spectators. Whole families slept on the beach over night.

Presiilent Fallieres and M. Delcasse (Minister of Marine) made speeches at a luncheon. They eulogised the Navy’s preparedness and the spirit animating it to uphold the country’s prestige.
