MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of tie Hawke’s Bay Fruitgrowers Ass< eiation was held in the Oddfellow. Hall, Hastings, on Saturday i:! ternoon, .Mr. I. Cook presiding over an attendance <>f 25 inembei' It was decided to forward the f< ’? lowing remits to the Fruitgrowers’ Conference, to be held at Molucka in October:1. That the Government be asked to i>ut an export duty on white pine sent out of the Dominion. 2. That this Conference recommend that h'gislat i< >n be brought into operation to organise the shipping space in ’view of the fruit export trade from New Zealand and prevent the monopoly of space. D'essrs. !•'. Cook, A. Moore and \V. Puri is were appointed delegates to the conference. It was resolved "That this association assist, the East Coast Railway League in petitioning the Govern!ii< '>t to push oil the railway line to ttisli.-.riK' i') order to opt nup timber land in view < fethe difficulty of ger-

Tiie chairman promised to prepare - paper <;n "Small Fruits” for a future meeting.
