Mr. Dolan apcared for the defendant. It was pointed out that the man was hopclssly in arrears to the ex tent of about £248. He was now earning S'- per day and it was suggest cd’that "the arrears be remitted and an order made upon his wages. Arrears remitted and an attachment order issued. EXCESSIVE SPEED. Ernest Grant was charged with driving a vehicle round a corner m Napier at a rate exceeding a walk. The accused who did not appear was convicted and fined 10 - and costs 7'-. LIGHTLESS BIKES. Edward Henry Aitken and M illiam Norman, charged with riding bicycles without proper lights at night time were each fined 30- and 7.costs, in default 7 days nnpntonment. THE LICENSING CASE. THE POLICE v. THOMAS SPEER Mr. Dolan, before the proceedings commenced, asked for permission to enter a protest against the procedure cf jurisdiction as sentence had been passed and the fine paid, therein relating to the license* of toe oiHis Worship, after reading the section, held that there was no jurisdiction and that sentence should ’nave been deferred.
