JOHN LONG’S DEATH.

CASE AGAINST DOWMAN DISMISSED. Wellington, Aug. 30. When the young man named William Francis Dowman was charged on remand at the Magistrate’s Court to-day with unlawfully killing John Long, the police offered no evidence, and accused was discharged. This action was the result of evidence given at the inquest, which showed that Dowman pushed Long, who while intoxicated was about to strike his wife, and Long fell over, fractured his skull, and died subsequently.
