A very pleasant little dance was held under the auspices of the combined ladies’ hockey clubs in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Hastings, last evening. The dance was organised to raise funds towards defraying the expenses of the ladies' representative team to proceed to Wellington to take part in the championship tournament. About fifty couples occupied the floor and the Mayor and Mayoress were in attendance. Mrs. Ha stings supplied the music and extra dances were played by Mrs S. G. Poppelwell. Miss Poppelwell and Mr. A. E. I pchurch. Messrs Rees and Noble were the M.’sC.. and the .secretarial duties were ably carried out by Mrs Winchcomb and Miss J. Wilson. Lord Islington was yesterday initiated into the Ancient Order of Foresters as a member of Court Loyal Northland. Representatives from all over the Dominion were present.
