WEEKLY PRODUCE REPORT.
’Wellington, Aug. 17.
The New Zealand Farmers’ Co* operative Distributing Co., Ltd., report as follows -
The potato market is about tho same as last week, and promises to remain steady for some time to come. Australian onions are somewhat firmer, but reliable reports point to ample supplies for the next few months. Vegetable* continue to realise very high prices, with very keen competitiojK for such as cabbage and cauliflower. Apples and pears are in very short supply. Eggs have been in very large supply during the week, and the quantity available has been in excess of the requirements for ordinary consumption, while price was too high for bakers and others to preserve. They have now dropped to lOd and lid, and greater activity among buyers may be looked for. Wheat and oats are advancing, as alsoare most other grains. Hay is in good demand where quality is right.
