’Wellington, Aug. 17.

The New Zealand Farmers’ Co* operative Distributing Co., Ltd., report as follows -

The potato market is about tho same as last week, and promises to remain steady for some time to come. Australian onions are somewhat firmer, but reliable reports point to ample supplies for the next few months. Vegetable* continue to realise very high prices, with very keen competitiojK for such as cabbage and cauliflower. Apples and pears are in very short supply. Eggs have been in very large supply during the week, and the quantity available has been in excess of the requirements for ordinary consumption, while price was too high for bakers and others to preserve. They have now dropped to lOd and lid, and greater activity among buyers may be looked for. Wheat and oats are advancing, as alsoare most other grains. Hay is in good demand where quality is right.

Potatoes —Prime £4/10/- per ton. Up-to-Date Seed Potatoes — Specially selected, Canterbury £6 to £6/10/- per ton. According to quantity. Onions —Australian Brown Spanish, £6/10/- to £7 per ton. Beet —4/- to 6/- per sack. Carrots —4/- to 6/- per sack. Swedes^ —2/- 3/- sack. Cauliflower —15/- to 23/- per sack Marrows—4/- to 5/- per sack. Cabbage—lo/- t 015/- per sack. Lettuce—Fair, 1/-; choice, 2/- to 2/6 per case. Turnips—White, 6d to 9d pee heap. Pie Melons—B/6 to 9/6 per sack.

Dessert Apples—lo/- per case. Cooking Apples—B/6 per case. Cheese—Best factory Bfd per lb; loaf, 7d per lb Bacon—Factory aides 7d, roll* 9|d, hams, 9|d per lb. Honey—4d per lb. Beeswax.—l/5 per lb. Fungus—4|d per lb. Walunts—Market bare. Tallow—Tins, 23/6 cwt.

Poultry—Cockerels, 5/6 to 6/- for good birds; table roosters, 5/ ; table hens, 3/6 to 4/-; ducks, 5/6 to 6/T; turkey gobblers, 8d to B|d per lb; hens, 7|d to 8d per lb live weight!
