Mr. Willis, in explaining his acceptance of the Speakership, stated that he would act only on the understanding that no party matters would be introduced.
(Received 19, 8.25 a.m.) Sydney, Aug. 19. Parliament opened on Wednesday by Commission. The Opposition disgruntled Mr. Willis’s acceptance of the Speakership at Mr. Holman’s invitation. Mr. Wade considers the possibilities of governing the House are not exhausted, and Government should be forced to appoint their own speaker.
Mr. Willis claims no one with any sense of responsibility would have helped to precipitate the country into two general elect fems.
