LADIES’ TRIAL MATCH. WHITE (6) v. COLOURS (1). A trial match to select the H.B. Ladies representative team was played at Farndon Park on Saturday. Several of those chosen were unable to play, and their places were taken by emergencies. The game was not a particularly good one, but the Whites had all the best of it, their forwards, with one exception, playing with good combination, especially in the second spell. Whites won by 6 goals to nil. Miss M. Niven (3), K. Crowley (2), and V. Pitt (1) were the scorers for the winners, and Miss Cogswell scored for the Colours. Messrs. Melhuish and McDougall umpired for the first and second spells respectively. Men’s Senior A Grade. HERETAUNGA OLD BOYS (2) v. CIVIL SERVICE (0). This was a banner match, Civs, having challenged Old Boys for the coveted trophy. Civs, had about the best team they have had together this season on the' field and were right after a win. Heretaunga on the other hand were equally as keen to retain the banner, and from the ‘‘bully off” they set. the pace which proved a "cracker” to the "Government strokers.” Heale. for Old Boys, notched a pretty goal about half way through the first spell and after a- good deal of hit-hard and follow-up play, the spell ended in Heretaunga’s favour by one goal to nil. On resuming. Civs, adopted the six-forwards game and were bent on pushing things somewhat. Their back division was so weak and Heretaunga’s so safe that the latter had things pretty well their own way and should have scored on* several occasions had their forwards fielded balls in the circle. From a corner hit Austin Mclvor found the net with a pretty one. This spell was certainly Heretaunga’s, but the play was more scrappy than usual. The game thus ended in Hcrctaunga’s favour by two goals to nil. Civil Service, as usual, had no combination, and could learn a point or two from Old Boys in this respect. Messrs. Fail and McGoldrick refereed satisfactorily.

HASTINGS (5) v. NAPIER (1). At Nelson Park, Napier was defeated by Hastings by 5 goals to 1. The game was a fast one throughout, but Hastings were undoubtedly the better team. Selgren scored early in the game for Hastings, and Atkinson added the second goal from, a corner hit. Just before the end of the first spell Shirley scored Napier’s only goal. On resumption give and take play ensued, until Atkinson again scored for Hastings. Two more goals followed, the first by Alahoney and the second by Poppelwell, after a splendid piece of combined play. Messrs. L. Fail and F. Thomas controlled the game. BIBLE CLASS (3) v. MERCANTILE (2). At Nelson Park. Alercantile had rather best of the game in the first half, but after the interval the Bible Class forced pace, and ran out the winners of a good game by 3 goals to 2. The referees were Alessrs. F. Thomas and L. Fail. Men’s Senior B Grade. UNITED (7) v. ALERCANTILE (4). At Nelson Park. Alercantile played with only eight men. Mr. P. Foley refereed. UNION v. ST. MATTHEW’S. Union forfeited theii' match with St. Alatthew’s. Men’s Junior NAPIER (2) v. KOHINOOR (1). Played at Nelson Park, Napier winning by 2 goals to 1. Griffiths and Percy scored for the winners, and Hogan for Kohinoor. Mr. P. Foley was referee. UNITED v. BIBLE CLASS. United forfeited to Bible Class.
