The Telegraph Offices at NVaipukurau, Weber and Porangahau, will in future re-open between 7 and 8 p.m. for acceptance, transmission .and delivery of telegrams, for the convenience of out of the way bureau offices and numerous private line owners connected with these offices.
At last night’s meeting of the Hastings Borough Council the rates for the current year were fixed as follows General 1 9-16 d (a rise of 2-16 d to allow for £166 for metalling roads after the laying of the sewers); special, 5-16 d (a rise of 2-16 d necessary owing to the credit having been considerably reduced during last year); and library, l-16d, making a total of 1 15-16 d in the pound.
