LADY DENMAN'S WIT.
Lady Denman is a witty speaker, and she has generally relied on u er wit to point her political address es. Speaking at Bal<?ombe a year or so back, she said they we-j living in strenuous times. A man had flown from London to Manchester, and the House of Lords had passed the Budget. Her views on. the House of Lords question may be drawn from a speech at a gathering of the Liberal Social Council, in which she said that no other country had a hereditary chamber, and she hoped England would not be hampered with one that time next year. She could not understand any responsible working man voting for the House of Lords and against the Budget. Let them remember that the House of Lords had not. rejected one single Tory measure, whilst it had mutilated several Liberal ones, and -had finished by rejecting the Budget. Lord and Lrdy Denman unite social and intellectual qualities, which Australians will welcome and appreciate. They have two children. the elder n boy of six years and the other a little' daughter.
