GIRL CONTRACTSLEPROSY.
AT A BALL
Tim startling case of a North London girl who has contracted leprosy contains elements of tragic interest. The dreadful disease was probably induced by tho victim wearing, as part ot a fancy costume, a wig of Eastern origin.
Some time ago tho girl, who was yo’ing and extremely pretty, went to a , fancy, dross hall. The costume — that of a Chinese lady - -was pronounced perfect, in every detail. Unfortunately the wig she wore was oniy too real. It came from the E-ist. A strange mark appeared on the girl’s forehead. She consulted her doctor. who first treated her for eczema. The mark, however, showed no signs of improvement, and tho doctor called in a specialist, who diagonisod tho case as being one of lenrosv.
Arrangements were immediately made f<»* the removal of the girl to a leper colony.
Diligent inquiries have been made by the health authorities to <lis-<"-e'" the antecedents of the wig as it. is believed that it must have been worn at one time by :> leper. Efforts are being made to trace al! those who i*>to contact’ with the girl at or since the ball n-jfh a view to keeping them under strict observation -nfl preventing the ..disonso from spreading.
