THE LATE MR. TAYYLOR.
FLOCKING TO THE FUNERAI
A SUGGESTED MEMORIAL
Christchurch. July 29
Messages of sorrow and sympathy are still being delivered in large batches to friends of the late Mr. Taylor. They come from ail parts of New Zealand and every district is represented, as is every public body and almost every society. The demonstration of phblie sympathy is comparable only with that on the occasion of the death of Mr. Seddon.
Representative men are arriving from all parts of the Dominion and the funeral is already assuming auch large proportions that the city authorities have been com pelled to make special arrangements to keep the route open and to organise the procession. A meeting is to be held this afternoon to make preliminary arrangements for a suitable memorial.
A suggestion has come from outside the circle of immediate friends of the dead man that a fund be raised and presented to Mrs. Taylor so that the family will be saved from suffering any hardship as a result of Mr. Taylor’s sacrifices in the service of the Dominion.
It is understood that Mr. Taylor has left a very modest estate, which would haae been far larger but for the time Mr. Taylor devoted to public affairs.
