WOOL SALES

London, July 28. At the wool sales, slipes declined from 5 to 7.1 per cent.

Wellington, July 28.

The Department of Agriculture. Commerce, and Tourists has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner dated London. July 27th:- The wool sales have closed with a good demand, both Home and Continental, for all grades of greasy wool. The prospects are favourable, although a considerable quantity was not offered. 29,000 bales of New Zealand wool being held over. The estimated value of superior merino is 1/to 12, medium merino lOd to Hid, inferior merino Sd to 9jd, fine crossbreds 11 id to 1/2, medium crossbreds 9d to lid. coarse crossbreds 8d to lOd.

LIVE STOCK. OTANE SALE. The usual monthly stock sale was held at Otane saleyards yesterday. A good attendance of buyers met a small yarding of both sheep and cattle. Fat wethers brought up to 18, -. fat ewes to 16/8. medium quality ewes 11/6 to 13/-.

The Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Association report : —l5O fat ewes at 16-8. 110 fat wethers at 17/-, 25 fat ewes at 11/8, 50 at 13/4. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report: -5 fat ewes at 15/4, 56 fat ewes at 12/6, 43 forward ewes at 8, -. 80 cull ewes at 5/3, 68 hoggets (mixed sexes) at 8/8, 9 mixed 2tooths at 10/9.

Lundon. Stewart and Co.. Ltd., report having held their monthlysale at Otane yesterday, when they offered a good yarding of sheep and a small yarding of cattle to a fair attendance of buyers. They report the following sales:—l4 forward ewes 7/6. 68 fat wethers 18/6, 36 fat ewes 13,3, 27 fat ewes 11/2, 15 fat wethers 15/3. 8 fat. wethers 1$) 47 fat wethers 15’11, 36 fat ewes 11,3. 116 aged ewes in lamb 6 3. 5 fat bullocks £7/17/- (light), 8 fat bullocks £7/18 - (light).
