NO INCREASE IN RATES. ;
Ottawa. July 22.
The Canadian steamship companies will not increase their passenger and freight rates as a result of the increased wages granted consequent on the strikes in England.
BALLOT FAVOURS STRIKE

London. July 23.
In the ballot for a strike against the three shift system. 19,516 Northumberland miners voted in favour of a strike and 9259 against. There was a large majority against pit-head baths.
