ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS.
MAN HURT ON S.S. VICTORIA
A man named Boyd, a resident of AVaghorne street, Napier, fell down the hold of the s.s. Victoria at the Glasgow Wharf yesterday evening. As a result, he sustained a fracture of the left leg above the ankle. Dr. Edgar attended to his injuries, and this morning Boyd was admitted to the hospital.
MR. AIacDONALD’S ACCIDENT. Further particulars of tae accident by which Air. D. AlaeDonald, of Meanee, one of Messrs . Niven and Co.’s erecting engineers, bad his right arm cut off at Woodford House. Havelock .yesterday, show that he was installing a hydro for elothes-drying purposes Jh the school laundry when by some unfortunate circumstance lie slipped and fell forward, his right arm becoming entangled in the hydro wheel which was revolving at a great speed. Alac Don aid’s assistant, says so terribly sudden was the accident that the first intimation he had that anything was wrong was when he saw AlacDonald’s arm hanging by a few sinews. Dr. Tosswill was at once telephoned for and arrived within fifteen minutes of being summoned. The injured man was brought into Nurse Jefferd’s private hospital, where, he was attended by Drs. Tosswell and AlcKibbin. Air. George ATacDonaJd, the man’s father arrived soon After, and a number of fellow employees from Niven and Co.’s works at the port also journeyed to Hastings to lend any assistance possible.' On enquiry this morning we learnt that the sufferer was rnhking satisfactory progress.
