THE STRANDING OF THE WAIPAWA. Brisbane, -July 22. The action of the British India Company in claiming £lOO,OOO damages against Government for alleged negligence of the pilot in connection with the stranding of the steamer Waipawa has been settled by payment of a comparatively small sum.

The Union Company’s Tarawera is due on Monday morning from Northern ports, and leaves at 2 p.m. for ‘Wellington and South. The Union Company’s Monowai is due on Tuesday morning from Southern ports ,and leaves at 8.30 p.m. for Gisborne and Auckland. The Matatua left yesterday for Auckland.
The; Marere left last night for Gisborne.
The Petone arrived last night from Gisborne. After loading cattle here she will proceed to Lyttelton.
The Union Company’s Kowhai leaves Wellington to-day for Napier. and is due to-morrow. She leaves here on Monday for Gisborne wharf and Grey mouth. The Union Company’s Haupiri leaves Auckland on Monday for Napier, via Limestone Island. East Coast bays and Gisborne, and is due here about the end of next week.
The Union Company's Waitemata is due at Bluff on Tuesday. She leaves there on Wednesday for Napier. Gisborne and Auckland, via Oauiaru and Timaru.
