In the House of Commons Viscount Wolmer enquired to what extent oversea dominions were com-
mitted by approval of the AngloJapanese treaty .whether Japan had informed the dominions of her course of action in the event of Britain being involved in war under article two of the treaty. Sir Edward Grey said the aethm of the dominions in the event of war was a matter of consideration by the Imperial Government in consultation with the dominions. It <fi<S not matter about discussions witis any foreign Government.

The news originally published implied that the Aiiglo-Anieneara Arbitration Treaty was concluded! without a renewal of the AngloJapanese Alliance, hence strong disapproval arose, hut rhe leudtmz journals and premineni puhlieisis now express satisfaction nt the extension of the area of the pacificzone and declare Japan desires a® Arbitration treaty with ‘he ( nited States, inasmuch as armed conflict with that country is unthinkable.
