STOCK SALES.

BURNSIDE MARKET. [per press association.] Dunedin, July 19. At Burnside market two hundred fat cattle were yarded, a larger yarding than usual, and prices were easier in consequence. The yarding comprised a good entry of prime bullocks and heifers, with a proportion of light and inferior cattle. Prices were back from 10 - to 15 - per bend on last week’s rates. Quotations; —Best bullocks £lO to £l2. extra to £l5 7 6. medium £8 to £9 10'-, light £6 6'- to £7. heifers. best to £f). medium £6l/10 - to £7 10 -. light from £4 ■ JO/- to £5/10/Sheep : 2550 yarded. The sale opened at about last week’s rate in case of prime wethers and ewes, but prices improved as the sale advanced. Medium ewes and light wethers sold at slightly reduced rates. Quotation :■ —Good wethers 18'- to 21/-, extra to 25/-, medium 15'6 to 17 -, light and inferior 14/to 15 good ewes 15/-to 16/6, extra to 18/9, medium 12/6 to 14/-, light 8,6 to 11/- . Lambs: 2431 yarded. Freezing buyers operated at reduced limits, and. moreover, competition, from other buyers was not as keen as last week. Consequently, prices fell, showing an average decline of Iper head. Quotations: —Prime lambs 15/- to 16/6, extra 21 z 3, medium 12 - to 13/6, unfinished 10/- to 11 6.

LONGLANDS SALE. London. Stewart and Co., Limited, report having held their regular fortnightly sale at Longlands, Hastings. yesterday ,when they offered a good yarding of sheep and a small yarding of cattle to a good attendance of the public. Bidding throughout was brisk, and all classes of stock showed a marked improvement from the prices of last sale, and practically the w’hole yarding changed hands at prices most satisfactory to vendors. They report the following sales :—Cattle : 4 20-month steers at £3/18/-, 3 fat heifers at £5/11,-, 4 fat heifers at £5/10 -. 5 fat cows at £6. Sheep : 67 fat wethers at 16/10, 25 fat ewes at 13 4. 2 6fat ewes at 14/6, 40 fat wethers at 15,11, 56 fat ewes at 12/7, 41 fa twethars at 15/4, 30 fat eives at 13 6, 3 3fat ewes at 13'3, 26 forward ewes at 10 3, 77 fat wethers at 16 9, 10 fat ewes at 13/5. 77 fat and forwnrd ewes at 8/9, 20 forward wethers at 14 4. 6 fat lambs at 10 3. 33 forward ewes at 8/1, 44 forward ewes at 8/3, 200 forward wethers at 15/7, 83 store ewes at 5 9. 199 woolly ewes and lambs at 9 3, 120 half bred wethers at 7/-, 40 cull ewes at 1/-, 60 forward wethers at 16/-, 43 cull Jambs at 2/8, 777 wether lambs at 9/11.
