LIBERAL PEERS.
’ JEALOUS NEWCOMERS. London, July 17. The fact that the. Government- - was scarcely able to rely on the ; support of half the existing Liberal Peers fluring the recent divisions is much commented upon. It is re- ‘ ported that a majorit y of the absen-
tees are barons, and the dissatisi faction is due to an incident in coni nection with the proposed creat ion of peers on the Parliament Bill, many distinguished Liberals to whom peerages have been tentatively offered insisting upon reeeiv- . ing viscountcies instead of baronies. Dissentient Liberal Peers say that the new creations should be confined to baronies and they themselves made viscounts. WHIPPING UP THE PEERS. (Received )S. 1.10 p.m.) London. July 17. Much comment l as been occasioned by Lord Morley having issui cd a whip with a view of carrying the third reading of the Parlia ment Bill. In the whip lie empha- ' sises that momentous results are involved both immediately and in : the future, making the occasion truly critical.
