THE RACING REPORT. HOROWHENFA S PROTEST. WHAT MAY HAPPEN. Tper press association.] Wellington, July 14. A deputation representing the Horowhenua Racing Club waited on the Hon. Buddo to-day to protest against the proposed extinction of clubs as recommended by the Racing Commission. Mr. Field, M.P., said the proposed extinction of the club was a gross and wanton misuse of the Act. If the club was snuffed out. the destraction of Horowhenua A. and P. Association would follow. The Minister said the recommendations of the Commission were law and would come into effect on Ist August. Mr. Field thought it was possible, knowing as he did the temper of the House, that every other racing club in New Zealand might find itself without a totalisator or a bookmaker after this. (By “Elevation.”) The nominations received for the Hunters* events at the Hawke’s Bay Hunt Club meeting to be held on Wednesday, July 26th, are very poor, but some good racing should he witnessed in the flat events. Without the totalisator or bookmakers it will be quite a change for Hawke’s Bay sports. Pictures of the. race for the English Derby, run on May 31st, taken in natural colours, were two nights later exhibited in London. These pictures were taken by the kinemaeolotir process, and all the horses could lie easily distinguished throughout the race by the colours of their respective owners, while every important incident of the race is clearly depicted.

A lad named Charlie Carmotit. who is attached to A. Hall’s stable at Wanganui, and who only scales 4st Sib. regularly rides North-east in his schooling work.
