MR. AfASSEY IN CHRIST- • CHURCH. j Christchurch, July 8. Air. Massey. Leader of the Opposition, arrived from Wellington this > morning. In conversation with a reporter. Air. Massey spoke confidently of the prospects of the Opposition party at the polls in the North Island. Referring to the meeting addressed by him in Wellington on Thursday night, Air. Afa.sscy said it was one of the largest and most successful that he had ever addressed. Air. .Massey courteously declined to be interviewed on the subject of his difference .with Mr. Taylor, ALP. Asked whether Air. Taylor would he asked to preside at his meeting on Tuesday night, in view of recent happenings. Air. Massey said that thte matter had nothing to do with him ; it was in the hands of the committee. The committee had very properly asked the Mayor to preside as Mayor, and had nothing to do with the squabbles of two members of Parliament. Mr. Massey was then asked if. on Tuesday evening, he would deal with the question raised by Mr. Taylor. Air. Massey intimated that be did not desire to reply to the question.
