The ordinary meeting of the Hastings Borouctt Council will be held this evening. The civil case. Joli v. Ebbett, had not been concluded at the Supreme. Court when we went to press at -Lis this afternoon. On Wednesday afternoon a meeting of ladies, presided over by Mrs. de Lisle, was held at- Mahora School, when it- was decided to hold a school social in the Drill Hall on Wednesday, August 9th. A committee, consisting of Mestlaiues tie Lisle. Stubbs, Hay. Foster, Chaplin, Horne. Stockham. ; Miller, and Horton, was formed, with power to add to their number. The ladies are requested to meet again on July 19th. , About eighty couples attended the euchre party and dance held in St. Patrick’s Hall. Hastings, last: evening, as a benefit to AV. Bainbridge. who broke his leg playing football recently. Mr. J. McCarthy was declared the winner of the! euchre tournament. Music, for the <lancing was supplied by Mrs. \V.) Gebbie in her usual first-class man-; nor. and extras were played by; Mrs. S. G. Poppelwell and Miss M. McLiskv. Messrs. J. Halligan and P. J. Carroll acted as M.C'.’s. The' suppbr was provided by a committee of ladies, and the arrangements were in the capable hands of Mesdames Poppelwell and O'Donoghue.’ A very enjoyable function concluded about 2 a. in.
